Bucky's Story

WHAT IF NO ONE EVER LOOKS PAST HIS SCARS?

Meet Bucky.

Bucky is 2 1/2 years old, weighs about 30 pounds, and he has been waiting for his forever family for almost his entire life. We rescued Bucky when he was just 3 months old. He was a tiny puppy from a litter of three, and before he ever had the chance to know what love was supposed to feel like, he experienced things no puppy should ever have to endure. Bucky was attacked by a much larger dog and suffered bites all over his tiny body. And as if that wasn't enough, someone had thrown hot water on him, leaving him horribly burned. Not long after we took him into our rescue, his fur began falling out. His skin was damaged. His little body was covered in wounds. It was absolutely heartbreaking. We treated him. We cared for him. We watched him heal. But unfortunately, Bucky was left with scars. Earlier this year, some of the damaged skin continued to bother him so badly that he needed a procedure to remove it. Once again, Bucky endured it all. And through every single thing this boy has been through... he never stopped being sweet.

Today, Bucky is healthy, neutered and microchipped. He loves other dogs and has a friendly, gentle temperament. But there is something Bucky doesn't have. His own person. Bucky currently lives with 11 other dogs. He loves them, but you can tell he wants more. He craves attention. He wants someone to sit with him. Someone to tell him he's a good boy. Someone to make him feel like he is special. Because Bucky has spent his life being one of many, we want so badly for him to finally know what it feels like to be someone's ONE.

We know Bucky isn't the typical picture-perfect dog. He has scars. He doesn't have the flawless coat or perfect appearance that some people look for. But those scars aren't ugly to us. They are proof that he survived. They are proof that despite everything humans and other animals have put him through, Bucky's heart remained soft. And somewhere out there, we believe there is a family who will look at Bucky and see exactly what we see: A beautiful dog who was given a difficult beginning but still has so much love to give. Bucky has never asked for much. He just wants to be loved. He just wants to belong.
He just wants a family to call his own.

Please don't let Bucky's scars be the reason he gets overlooked. Let them be the reason someone chooses him. If you can't adopt him, please share his story. You never know who might see his face and think, "That's my boy."

Bucky is being fostered in La Feria,TX but can be transported to an out of state approved adopter. His adoption fee outside the state of TX is $450.

Please review our adoption requirements here: https://www.anassafehavenrescue.org/adoption-requirements...

Please submit your application here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/ASHT/Dog
