Buckeye (Spayed) (In Foster to Adopt)'s Story
Buckeye is a beautiful 5-year old female Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on January 23, 2026 after she was found on Newells Run Road in the Newport Ohio area.

Buckeye was in desperate need of medical attention when we met her that day, and she was rushed to one of our wonderful local veterinarians for emergency surgery/spay due to pyometra (serious infection of the uterus).

Buckeye returned to our shelter the following day and began her recuperation/recovery in a quiet room of her very own. She was given the best care thanks to Colegate Woods Veterinarians and our HSOV staff/kennel techs and has made a full recovery.

This little sweetheart has a brown-and-white shorthaired coat, a long tail, and an adorable snow white face with expressive brown eyes, a liver-colored nose, and short floppy ears. Buckeye has the cutest facial wrinkles and a patch of brown around her left eye.

In spite of being in pain, Buckeye has maintained the sweetest, most lovable disposition and has always welcomed the kindness and attention which has been given to her. Buckeye is an easy girl to love.

Buckeye weighed 38 lbs when she entered our shelter on January 23rd 2026. She weighed 43 lbs on February 6th 2026.

Buckeye went home with a foster family on February 10th so that she could continue her recovery in a real home environment 24/7. Not surprisingly, Buckeye's foster family has fallen in love with this special girl. It seems likely that Buckeye has already found her forever home (smile).

Buckeye was officially adopted by her foster family on March 6, 2026 ... And she has a new name (Bella Rae).
