Bubs's Story
It’s been a while since you’ve seen this cutie. This is Bubs and he’s ready to find his family!
Bubs is a 1-year-old, short-haired chihuahua mix. He’s a peanut at only 7 lbs. He’s house trained with a dog door or will use puppy pads inside, but he definitely prefers going outside. This boy really likes car rides and playing with his friends. He loves his humans, is very much a lap dog, and he wants to be wherever you are at all times. We call that, being a Velcro dog. Bubs started his rescue life with a broken jaw (which has healed) and had two infected teeth pulled (he’s healed from that too). Bubs will never be allowed to have hard bones or solid toys, but he’s allowed to have soft toys, which he loves.
Bubs’ foster mom is teaching him some commands (and puppy manners). Bubs will sit for 20 seconds for treats, he’s learning what “off” means and knows to come when he’s called by name. They’re working on some leash training and Bubs is figuring out the fun game of fetch. This boy has learned the command “no bark” and will stop on command. He prefers to sleep in bed with his human. Little Bubs does have some separation anxiety with whining and barking when he’s home alone. His foster mom is working with him on crate training though so that might help with that anxiety.
Bubs would like a home with a small yard and a buddy to play with. He hasn’t been around kids but is gentle. He’s good with the small dogs and with the gentle cat in his foster home. A note from his foster mom, “[He’s] not destructive unless you leave a tissue out.” Typical puppy behavior, right?
If you’re interested in meeting Bubs or have questions about him, please fill out our adoption application here: Adoption application or email us at: medicalanimalsinneed@gmail.com.
