Bruno's Story

LOCATION: Dayton, Ohio
DOB: 04/22/2015 (Estimate)

The name’s Bruno and I’m hitting the open market. Now, don’t everyone start mashing buttons and clicking on my adoption link at the same time. I’d hate to be the reason the internet crashes! Let’s just go low and slow and I will start by telling you a little bit about myself.

First, when I see an empty lap or a beckoning shoulder, my head becomes instantly and abnormally heavy. I MUST lay it down in or on one of those places. Cuddling is a fact.

I also have paws larger than a lion’s. (Ok-not really, but they are really big). Sometimes my brain and my paws and my mouth do not always communicate effectively together. My brain says, “Stay chill, Bruno. You got this big guy. Deep breaths.” My paws however scream, “Everyone needs a big hug!!” And my mouth says a teensy taste won’t bother anyone. Getting these three body parts to coordinate is a work in progress. So being around children is a no. Sorry about that.

What is a yes, though, is my finesse at slipping delectable treats right off the table without anyone seeing me. It is an art that I have mastered. I have not quite mastered, though, sharing my toys or meals.

If you would like to have, or maybe you already have, other critters at your home, I am okay with some, but not others. I'm curious about cats, but don’t chase them. Other dogs are okay as long as we have slow, proper, and controlled introductions. Ducks are cool. I’d prefer no goats. Livestock is okay as long as we are separated by a fence.

My kennel is my safe space. I am housetrained and I will let you know when it is time to go outside. And if I pass by a mirror on the way, I will stop and check myself out. Sometimes I like to lay in front of the mirror, too, and then get up every so often to make sure I'm still there. Never fails. I'm always still there. Cardboard box pieces have a weird way of ending up in mouth so my foster momma’s advice is to keep those up where I can’t get them.

I have a bum eye that I don’t see great out of. Not a big deal. Doesn’t stop me from holding tennis balls in my mouth. If it is a fireworks night, I would prefer to have my humans with me at all times. My head will be extra heavy that night and some extra lovings will be in order. In general, I would love to have a very low traffic home.

Take a moment and contemplate what your life would be like with me (and gasp! without me). We are talking Great. Grand. Wonderful. Or Sad. No smiling faces. Heartbreak. If it were me-I’d go with the obvious one. (See! We made it through the end without anything crashing. Although maybe we are trending?)

___________________________________________
For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org.

For an application to adopt, please go to www.saverockythegreatdane.org and fill out an app.

Thank you so much, we look forward to helping you.

Team Rocky Enterprises, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
How Our Adoption Process Works Team Rocky Enterprises DBA Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab (SRGDRR) follows a thoughtful adoption process designed to ensure the best possible match for both our dogs and their future families. Our available dogs are posted on our website, Facebook page, and multiple adoption platforms, including Petfinder. Once you find a dog you’re interested in, the process includes: 1. Adoption Application – This helps us learn about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a dog so we can make the best match. 2. Veterinary Reference Check – We verify that current or past pets have received appropriate veterinary care. First-time pet owners are welcome and encouraged to apply. 3. Phone Interview – This is a chance for us to talk with you about the dog you’re interested in, including personality, needs, medical history, and any quirks. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions about the dog and our rescue. 4. Home Check – We confirm that your home environment is safe and appropriate for the dog, whether that includes a fenced yard or a leash-walking setup. This is not a housekeeping inspection—just a safety check. Once all steps are completed and approved, you’ll sign an adoption contract and submit an adoption donation. From there, your new forever friend will be ready to head home! Why This Process Matters Our goal is to match each dog with a home that best meets their needs. Some dogs thrive with experienced owners, while others do best with someone who is home most of the day or understands specific behavioral or medical needs. Taking the time to get this right helps ensure lifelong, successful adoptions. Our Lifetime Commitment If at any point you are unable to keep your adopted dog, you must contact us. We will always take our dogs back. We never want them to end up in unsafe situations or shelters again. Our responsibility to each dog lasts for their lifetime. Thank you for choosing rescue and for considering adoption with SRGDRR.
