Bruno's Story
Hi Friends! It’s Bruno! Just checking in to tell you about some updates from my recent foster slumber parties. Each time I go hang out with my friends Allie & Cameron, I get better and better.

What’s so good about me? Well, here’s the list they sent over:
-A fantastic house guest.
-Potty Trained! With frequent trips outside I had no accidents! I’ve also learned to let them know when I need to potty.
-I do really well meeting new people, with a slow & controlled introduction. In fact while at my slumber parties I’ve made new human friends every-time!
-I’m dog friendly, and then some! I love, love, love, a good playmate. I would probably do best with a dog that likes to play in short spurts because I also value downtime!
-I can be left alone in the house for about 6 hours! I enjoyed sleeping and chewing on my toys while my friends were gone.

These regular slumber parties have given me hope for the future. I love my routine and the people at the shelter, but a shelter isn’t a forever home. These little getaways showed me that maybe—just maybe—there’s a family out there for me to call my own. Being in a home helps me decompress. After a few slumber parties, I finally discovered that the big, comfy box in the bedroom is called a bed and guess what? I LOVE cuddling on it!

My new family will need to be patient and visit me at the shelter a few times so we can build a bond before I go home with them. I know how to sit, and I look very handsome when I do! I’m also learning to shake, lie down, and wait. I’m basket-muzzle trained, so I can go to public places safely. My basket muzzle helps me feel secure when meeting new people and keeps me honest if I get overstimulated and my mouthy puppy brain takes over. I can still get snacks, drink water, and use my voice with it on!

I’m a great dog, but my early life was hard. I spent my first few years with my sister, tied to a fallen tree in a backyard in Flint. I was starved and muzzled with a muzzle that was too small and made it hard to breathe or eat. That was my whole world. But now, I’m a different dog—with a brighter future. My past just means I need a specific kind of home.

I’d do best in a quieter home with few visitors. I can’t live with kids or cats, but I do love having a dog friend. I even have three doggy buddies at my slumber parties, and we have so much fun playing together! A fenced yard would be a huge bonus—I love rolling around outside and taking in all the smells.

Maybe you’re reading this and thinking, “Hey, I don’t like visitors much either.” Maybe you’re a single person or a couple without children or grandkids. Maybe you visit others more than they visit you. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will love you unconditionally, we might be the perfect match.

If this sounds like a good fit, please come to the shelter and start building a bond with me. I can’t wait to have a loving family and a cozy bed to sleep in every night. When that day comes, I’ll be the happiest dog in the world—because someone chose me.

If you’d like to meet me, please stop by Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you have any questions, give the shelter a call at 989-348-4117 or email AVAScares2@gmail.com
