Brownie's Story

Brownie is a case of not being born in the right place or time, she would have been a nanny dog or a war hero in an earlier time or had she been born here in Canada to being with, hopefully would have spent her whole life up to now in a loving home. That unfortunately was not the case for sweet Brownie who is a Pit Bull and has been at the shelter in Mexico most of her life and is now about 10+ years old. Despite not having the best of luck on the family front, she has made so many friends living at the shelter! She loves being around anyone and gets along great with dogs, cats and children! She is a tough cookie though so she tends to be dominant with other dogs but also is very playful and social! She was found on the streets with severe malnutrition and nursed back to health at the shelter where she’s been ever since. She is a sweet pit bull mix and smiles to show you how happy she is to be near you! Unfortunately, it’s not easy for large breed dogs to find a home in Mexico so amazing dogs like this spend most of their lives in shelters being overlooked when they are the most wonderful pets and family members!

Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months! We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things!
