Brook's Story
Meet bright and bubbly Brook! Brook is an active, fun-loving lady with a big heart. She loves spending time with people and having fun together!

Currently staying in a foster home, Brook has been showing her people-oriented and affectionate side. With a little time to decompress from the kennel, she's shown how loving she can be. She loves climbing into bed and sleeping through the night, or joining you on the couch and resting her head on your lap.

Pretty Brook is also curious, energetic and eager to discover new things. She's a go-getter and is sure to help you get moving and explore on daily walks and/or runs. She likes the outdoors but only if someone is enjoying it with her - so you can enjoy the fresh air and sun together! She loves to go for runs or long walks through the park. She also has a passion for toys and enjoys having a collection of durable chew toys to work on and would have a blast in her own fenced-in yard. With other dogs in play group, Brook has been playful. She is polite passing them on walks as well, with little reaction to dogs who bark at her. She might enjoy having another dog in her future home to help her learn the ropes, and to be a play mate!

Brook is also a smarty! She knows sit, paw, down, touch, stay, come, and leave it thanks to taking a class at Cold Nose Companions. She also has solid manners in the home: she is housebroken, and listens well to guidance about things in the house. She is working on being comfortable in her crate but does settle down to sleep. She is still working on her excited, jumpy greetings and enjoys rough-housing when she is excited, so she would do best in a home without small children for now, but she is learning and adjusting to the routine more and more everyday.

Miss Brook has a lot of potential to be someone's active, fun-loving best buddy. She'd love to join you for adventures, play time, and then unwinding on the couch at the end of the day. She is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs 44 lbs.

Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to set up a meet!

Visit: 9203 Detroit Avenue Cleveland, OH 44102

Fee: $61 | Includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, license,

The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be.

Our Adoption Process...
Here's a little about how things work:
All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. You must schedule a meet with a dog in advance - we are not currently accepting walk-ins. Please look online first to see if there are any dogs you think would be a good fit for your home before scheduling a meet. To get the process started, visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog and fill out the form. One of our adoption counselors will get in touch to schedule and confirm your meet! At the kennel, an adoption counselor will introduce you and your family to the adoptable dogs, share information we know about them, and discuss our suggested ways for successfully integrating a new dog into your home. You are welcome to meet multiple dogs. If the dog you adopt is already fixed, he or she may leave with you that day - otherwise, the dog can go home after receiving the spay or neuter surgery.)

About Our Dogs: All available dogs have gone through a behavioral and medical assessment. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. We cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog once they are in the home. Most of our dogs are picked up as strays, so we do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if most of them are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. We do have some dogs in foster homes, where they will have more information about how the dog is in a home environment. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption.

Heath/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within two weeks of leaving the kennel. All dogs receive their DAPPL, Rabies, and Bordatella vaccines, though you may be required to get follow up boosters. All dogs come microchipped and with a Cuyahoga County license.
