Brodie's Story
Brodie is a sweet, 2-3 year old smooth coat Border Collie who is getting his second chance at a good life. He was rescued from a shelter who had picked him up after being hit by a car outside of his home. Brodie has had several weeks of R&R to recover from a broken pelvis and is now starting to go on longer and longer walks to build up his muscle. There is a chance that he will need surgery in the future, but as of right now the vets have determined that he is fine without it.

Brodie is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all shots. He is also house broke and good in his crate. He is an amenable guy, getting along with both dogs and cats. Brodie is a very fast learner especially when incentivized with hot dogs or cream cheese (he learned to use a ramp to go outside almost immediately), and loves his walks.

He is a little shy with new people, but once he’s comfortable he will try to curl up in your lap for pets. He also does have some resource guarding tendencies with bones (no doubt a carry over from his past life) – so he needs someone that understands how to work with this type of behavior. Because of this, he would be better in a home with older children who can understand his signals when he needs some space.

He has been on crate rest in his foster home, so once he feels 100% again, his personality will truly blossom. He has not shown much interest in toys at this point, and has spent the majority of his time sleeping and recuperating, but that could very well change as he recovers further.

If you are looking for a loving, loyal companion, Brodie may be your guy! For more information feel free to call or email Brodie’s foster mom, Liz, at 919-321-7803 or lizburke@cbcr.org. Brodie is fostered in Durham, NC.
