Bright's Story

Bright is currently in a foster home. He is available for adoption! To meet Bright, please email applications@chicagocaninerescue.org!

Some dogs light up a room just by being in it—and Bright is one of them. At 12 years old, this goofy gentleman has weathered a lot: two surgeries to remove Mast Cell Tumors and yucky teeth, a few new lumps and bumps, and more vet visits than any dog should have to endure. But here’s the thing—Bright doesn’t know. He isn't suffering. He is happy. He’s loving life.

His days are filled with the little things that make him happiest: tiny "potty parades" around the yard, dramatic couch flops, and sweet, insistent nudges that mean "Please keep petting me." He loves to cuddle, resting his head on your leg for pats. He'll parade around the house with his stuffy toy, flipping it around with his eyes sparkling.

Why has Bright been with CCR for so long? He needs to be the only pet in his home. Luckily, he's had a wonderful foster mom to care for him over the years. But he's still been listed for adoption, and we're hoping to land him the dream home he's been waiting for.
His retirement dream? A fenced yard for leisurely sniffing, short and gentle walks, and a soft spot on the couch where he can keep watch over your snack choices.

Bright may be a hospice case, but he’s not looking for pity—he’s looking for love. Every day you give him will be a day he fills with joy, gratitude, and tail wags. If you’ve got room in your heart for a dog who will make you smile until the very end, Bright is ready to make every moment count.

Submit your foster or adoption application at ChicagoCanineRescue.org!
