BREE's Story
Meet Bree 💕

Bree’s story is one we couldn’t ignore. She found herself in a shelter, was adopted, and heartbreakingly returned again. If ARF hadn’t stepped in, Bree would have been euthanized. We knew we couldn’t fail a dog who was clearly once someone’s beloved companion and had already been let down twice.

Bree is estimated to be a little over 10 years old. She didn’t arrive in perfect condition and needed a dental, along with follow-up care for abnormal bloodwork. Her white blood cell count was extremely elevated, and she also had a chronic cough.

With consistent veterinary care, Bree has made real progress. After her dental and treatment, her white cell count has come down significantly and continues to trend in the right direction. While her count is still slightly out of the ideal range, this may be something she always lives with due to her diagnosis of chronic bronchitis.

White blood cell counts:

Ideal range: under 11,000

First draw: 24,000

Second draw: 23,000

Most recent: 14,000

Bree’s cough has been diagnosed as bronchitis, which can flare with cold, wet weather and high pollen or allergy days—so potential adopters should be prepared for seasonal management, especially in spring.

Despite everything she’s been through, Bree is an absolute sweetheart. She is a very nice, mellow dog who loves attention and enjoys lounging on a cozy bed, basking in whatever sunshine she can find. She enjoys easy strolls, is kennel trained, and has a calm, gentle presence.

When it’s cold, Bree wears clothes—though she’s quite clever and knows how to wiggle out of them if they don’t fit just right. 😉

Bree is currently on medications to keep her comfortable and will continue to be monitored by our vet. She deserves a loving home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by patience, warmth, and understanding.

We are never sure how much time any dog has, so it’s important to understand that Bree is a special girl. We are looking for a family who understands and is comfortable welcoming a dog with a medical history—one who will need ongoing monitoring and thoughtful care for the rest of her days. We truly believe that in a loving home environment, Bree will continue to flourish and thrive.

Bree does her best with house training. If she isn’t able to get outside in time, she may have an accident—but honestly, who wouldn’t if they couldn’t get to the bathroom? When our doors are open and she has access to outside, she does go out to potty.

Bree’s adoption fee is $100, which helps offset just a portion of the medical care and support that has gone into getting her healthy and stable. What we really hope for is a family who sees Bree not for her age or medical notes, but for the sweet, gentle companion she is—one who deserves comfort, patience, and love in her golden years.

If you’re looking for a calm companion with a soft soul and a big heart, Bree is ready to finally land where she belongs.

Breed: Poodle
Age: ~10
Adoption Fee: $100

Currently ARF does not adopt out of state.

How to Adopt a Dog from ARF
Animal Rescue of Fresno is a Volunteer Managed & Operated Dog Rescue.
We are available by Appointment Only.
Adoptions begin with an Approved Application.
You can find the application on our website at www.arf-fresno.com

Application can be found in the drop-down menu above, click "ADOPT"
Mobile users click three lines at top of page to see "ADOPT"
Business Hours: By Appointment Only

We will review each submitted application, then contact the approved adopter via email.
