Meet Bradford
From his foster Mom. I have had Brad for 15 days. This is what I know about him.
He is good with med to large dogs. He is not a fighter, but a little dog kept bothering him. He retaliated. No damage to anyone, but it showed me again he is not reactive, just street smart. Unfortunately, now he thinks all little dogs should not be trusted and we are working on that every day. No immediate reaction just careful in his intro to them.
He is really house broken, knows not to lift a leg in the house and will ask to go out.
His urge to jump on me or people he knows is gone, new people we are still working it but he is better every time.
I have taken him off leash to a dirt road I use to run with Ben. His recall is selective but he doesn't go far from me, keeps me in sight. When I got out of sight he came looking for me so he isn't a runner he loves his person and wants to stay close. Recall will come when he develops the treats are a good thing, right now he is not interested in treats. This will change with time.
When I am gone to work he crates nicely and remains there without a peep until I get home.
He is off leash in my house and is unconcerned where I am (not in my pocket dog).
He sleeps on a blanket by my bedroom door, no interest in sleeping on my bed with me, or a dog bed next to my bed? and is quiet till lights out and then he goes to sleep.
He has been really good on leash walking in town. If we see another dog he just wants to say hi but can be directed to move past easily if the other dog is not welcoming.
I feel he would love a teenager in his life to do things with him. A family with an older accepting dog would be great but he will not mind being the only dog.
He has settled to my work schedule and understands what is allowed and not allowed in the household as far as behavior.
He is literally bomb proof nothing fazes him and he looks to see what is going on, he did great in the auto carwash ! He is very independent but with the need to care for his person. No food, water or toy possession issues with people or dogs. No barking at other dogs or people when in the car.
Lastly he just wants to please his person, not fully understanding what I want but willing to figure it out. He loves, loves, loves to be outside in the yard on my dog run while I am reading or doing lawn chores.
