Bozo's Story

Dog Name: Bozo The Hound

Breed: Hound mix

Sex: neutered male

Age: 3 years

Weight: 65 pounds

Medical Needs: none

Housebroken: He's not had any accidents when free in the house in the two months he's been here, but his last placement said he had issues with marking indoors. I suspect a strict two-week shut down will see a continuation of his good behavior.

Crate trained: yes, though he occasionally has accidents overnight

Good in the car: yes, generally just goes to sleep

Good on a leash: When he's comfortable, he walks very well, but when things are too busy and he gets scared, he freezes up

Energy level: medium

Need a fenced in yard: No, Bozo thinks fences are more like suggestions, and he has been known to hop over to pee where the grass is greener.

Dog Friendly: Very. He loves to roughhouse with like-sized dogs, is respectful of dogs that don't want to play, and has been very tolerant of his 17-pound lhasa foster brother who likes to boss him around.

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, but I think he would be happier with a dog friend

Cat Friendly? Yes! His foster has three cats and Bozo has been very gentle and sweet with them, and likes to give them kisses.

Kid Friendly: Possibly older children. Fast movements and noise scare him.

If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? any old enough to understand he needs time to adjust to new people

Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?

Bozo is one of the sweetest hounds you will ever meet, but he's an introvert. He takes his time warming up to new places and people, but once he's comfortable, he's your best friend.

He took a couple of weeks in his current foster home to relax and really show his personality. He was very stoic and still at first, refusing to make eye contact and nervously side-eyeing anyone who came near. He spent the majority of his time in his crate, too nervous to venture out.

Two months later and he loves to gaze into people's eyes, while blissfully enjoying head scratches. He wags his tail at company and seeks attention and love. He likes to cuddle his human friends on the couch, and joins the cats at the window to quietly people watch.

He's a home doggy, not an adventure puppy. He doesn't mind a car ride, but dealing with strangers, noise and chaos still makes him freeze up. Need a reading buddy? He'll stay close and keep you company. A gardening pal? He's happy to sun himself beside you. Festivals? No, thanks!

Fosters Location: Grasonville, MD

Application can be found here: [https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application](https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application...)
