Boots's Story

Pet Location: Wayside’s Canine Behavior Center – I'd love to show off all the cool things I’ve learned at Wayside! Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days to meet me!

My Friends at Wayside say:
- I am enrolled in LIFT University. This is a program for dogs to build confidence in new situations and work on managing energy. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session.
- Once I warm up, I'm a sweet boy who loves my toys and gentle pets!
- I’m a shy dog and need someone willing to be patient with me.
- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information.

My home needs are:
- I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises.
- A fenced yard is a must for me!
- I need a home without other dogs - I prefer having your attention all to myself!
- For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.

Hi there, my name is Boots!

I’m a two-year-old Terrier mix who is looking for a very special place to call my own. I’m a sweet, goofy guy with a big heart, though I’m a bit on the shy side when I first meet new people. Because the world can feel a little overwhelming to me sometimes, I’m currently enrolled in a wonderful training program called LIFT. It’s been amazing for me because it’s teaching me how to build my confidence and work on my impulse control. I actually really love the challenge of training. I’m a bright boy who loves learning new things, especially when there are some tasty treats involved!

Once I get to know you and feel safe, my true personality really shines through. I absolutely adore my toys and will happily show off my zoomie when I get excited! While I have plenty of energy for play, I also have a very sweet, mellow side. There’s nothing I love more than receiving gentle pets from my favorite humans or just curling up on the couch to hang out and relax after a busy day. I’m the perfect balance of a fun-loving playmate and a loyal couch potato.

To be my happiest and most confident self, I do have a few requests for my forever home. I really need a house with a fenced-in yard where I can run around safely and feel secure. I’m also a guy who prefers to be the center of your universe, so I’ll need a home where I’m the only dog; I just have so much love to give that I want to keep it all for you! If you are a patient person who is willing to give me the time I need to warm up, I promise to reward you with a lifetime of goofy smiles and unconditional devotion.

Love, Boots
