Boone's Story

He is a lovable, playful cattle dog.

Boone is approx.1 yr old and weighs about 41 lbs. Boone still has some puppy energy but is learning good manners at home and walking on a leash. Since coming from a rural area, he’s adapting to his new city environment and not as overstimulated. He does very well with other dogs. He accepts boundaries from our dog when wanting space, even though he really wants a playmate. Boone recently spent a weekend with two other dogs and took them immediately.

Boone requires some daily exercise but not as much as typical cattle dogs who are work driven and need long walks. He’s responded well to 20–30-minute walks. He likes puzzles, bully sticks or a Kong with treats. He loves squeaky toys and can entertain himself. He’s becoming more comfortable riding in the car to run errands and grab a pup cup. He enjoys a good nap and cuddling up next to people while they watch tv or work. He happily goes into his kennel to receive his nightly treat before resting for the night. He sleeps well all night in his crate but is still adjusting to time in the crate when his foster parents are away from the house.

Boone is very friendly with children and adults. He’s shy with initial interactions, but he’s shown to be adaptable and will work to win you over with his affection. He has a desire to please and loves cuddles and to be pet. He’s also food driven and shown to respond well to training with treats.

Boone came from a very rural part of eastern KY and nothing is known about his life before ACDRA. Boone was dumped at a landfill and fortunately a team of volunteers connected him with ACDRA. Boone is very adaptable and bonds easily. He’d be equally happy to be in a family home with other dogs but would also enjoy being the only dog and getting lots of 1-1 attention.

ü Potty Trained

ü Neutered, Microchipped & Up to date on all vaccinations

ü Kid friendly!

ü Dog friendly

If you have questions please email: mader82@gmail.com

If you want to meet Boone, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.acdra.org/adoption-application
