Boom's Story

He’s hilariously clumsy — as graceful as a baby deer on roller skates— but behind that goofiness is a heart that’s learning to trust the world for the very first time.

Boom’s story starts out tough: he spent 3 long months at CACC and was slated for euthanasia at just 10 months old. Understandably, those early experiences left him cautious — especially around people. Boom is still very wary of new humans. It takes him quite a while (and a lot of quiet patience) before he feels safe enough to let someone in. He doesn’t react negatively — just deeply unsure — and he’ll need a calm, gentle adopter who can give him the space and time to adjust at his own pace.

Once Boom decides you’re “his person,” though… get ready for the best kind of love. He’s goofy, affectionate, and so proud of every brave step he takes — like sniffing a new human, walking past a parked car without flinching, or climbing on the couch for a cuddle.

Boom is crate trained, not too noisy (he does bark at strangers), and mostly potty trained (great with consistency). He loves most other dogs — especially a calm, confident, playful canine friend who can show him that the world isn’t so scary after all. He comes on strong so his rambunctious play style isn’t a fit for every dog. Slow introductions are best but he loves to run around the yard with our two dogs and his favorite walking buddies are a chihuahua and a min pin.

Boom’s perfect home is dog experienced, patient, and full of understanding hearts. He’s not the “instant best friend” kind of dog — but for the person who gives him the time he needs, he’ll become something far more special: a loyal, gentle, hilarious companion who will love you with every ounce of his being. Could you be the person who proves to Boom that he never has to be scared or alone again?

Boom may take time — but every minute of that journey will be worth it.

If you’re interested in meeting Boom, please fill out an application at the link below:

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DHDN/Dog
