Bongo's Story

Hi! My name is Bongo and I am a 1-2 yr old male red heeler mix. I am a happy, active, fun bundle of doggy joy! If you are looking for an adventure buddy, I'm your pup! I love to hike and run. And, I like to stay close to my person (or at least know where you are all the time), so, with just a tiny bit of training, I will make a great off leash dog. My enthusiasm and love for my person flows out of me and I will always be the first to greet you with kisses and hugs. Because I am still learning manners, I would probably not be a good fit for a home with small/young children. Older, (> 8 yr) dog savvy kids would be OK. I am house-trained, crate-trained and learning to walk without pulling too much on a leash. I am neutered and up-to-date on my vaccinations. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will bring joy to every moment, then I'm your call. Send a message to kathie@herdinghaven.org if you would like to meet me.

Our Mission
Herding Haven rescues herding dogs from shelters where they have been deemed "unadaptable" due to physical, medical or behavioral issues (or sometimes just because the shelter is out of space). We place them in foster homes, rehabilitate them and then find them "forever" homes.
