Bongo's Story

Meet Bongo — A Beautiful Boy with a Gentle Heart

Bongo is an absolutely stunning 9-month-old boy with a sweet, gentle nature and a playful spirit. At around 35 lbs now and expected to be approximately 50 lbs full grown, he is growing into a wonderful medium-sized companion.

Bongo is happy, affectionate, curious, and full of puppy charm. He loves playing with other dogs, exploring his surroundings, and spending time with the people caring for him. He can be silly and mischievous, as every good puppy should be, but he also has a wonderfully soft and sensitive side.

Bongo had an incredibly difficult beginning. He and his siblings were found as tiny puppies, abandoned in the garbage and left to fend for themselves. Thankfully, a kindhearted person walking his dog discovered them and immediately reached out to our rescue partner, SOS El Arca Animal Rescue, for help.

The entire litter was brought to safety and given veterinary care, nutritious puppy food, shelter, and, most importantly, the chance to grow up surrounded by kindness.

Those once-discarded little puppies have grown into beautiful young dogs. Now Bongo is ready for the one thing the shelter cannot give him: a family of his own.

Because Bongo has spent much of his puppyhood in a rescue environment rather than experiencing everyday life in a home, his adopter should be prepared to continue his training and socialization. The world is still new to him, and he will need positive experiences, consistency, and gentle guidance to help him gain confidence.

Bongo is young, eager to learn, and at a wonderful age to begin discovering life alongside his person. He needs someone who understands that confidence is built one positive experience at a time and who will enjoy showing him that new people, places, sounds, and situations are nothing to worry about.

His potty training has already begun and will need to be continued in his new home. Crate training, a predictable routine, positive reinforcement, exercise, and patience will help set him up for success.

Bongo gets along very well with other dogs and loves playing with his canine friends. A friendly, confident dog in the home could be a wonderful companion and role model for him, although the right adopter can also help Bongo flourish as a solo dog.

Bongo is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested, and on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

He has the opportunity to travel to New York, but he needs a committed adopter or foster-to-adopt home waiting for him before he can make the journey.

Bongo is not a finished product—he is a young dog ready to learn. He needs someone willing to put in the time that every puppy deserves, and in return, youll have the privilege of watching a once-abandoned little pup grow into a confident, loyal, and deeply loved companion.

Bongos life began with someone throwing him away. His story doesnt have to be defined by how it started.

It can be defined by the person who chooses him.

If you are ready for puppy adventures, training, laughter, companionship, and the incredibly rewarding experience of watching a young rescue dog blossom, Bongo may be your boy.

To adopt or foster-to-adopt Bongo, please apply at sosanimalwelfare.org or email sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com with any questions.
