Bolt's Story

Bolt is currently in a foster home. If you would like to meet him, please start by visiting www.sccrescue.org and completing an application.

Bolt is a young Corgi mix who looks like he trotted straight out of the world in the animated movie, BOLT— complete with that same bright-eyed charm and heroic presence. While he may not have superpowers (yet!), this sweet boy has a heart just as big as his animated namesake. Around 5 months old, calm and easygoing for a puppy, Bolt spends much of his day lounging on the couch or napping on the floor, saving his bursts of energy for backyard adventures where he can channel his “super-dog” instincts chasing birds and bunnies.

Like any young pup on a mission, Bolt is learning the ropes and doing wonderfully. He’s making great progress with house training and will go right to the door when he needs to go out—talk about smart! He already knows how to “sit,” walks politely on a leash (even if he’s a bit cautious in new surroundings), and shows excellent manners at home. He doesn’t need a crate and behaves well when left alone, only barking when there’s a true “alert”—like someone at the door. At night, this little hero happily settles into his dog bed, recharging for another day.

Despite his brave persona, Bolt’s true superpower might just be his love for cuddles. He’s incredibly affectionate, enjoys his toys without any aggression, and has a healthy appetite—he’ll even let you know when it’s mealtime by licking his bowl! Like any growing pup, he’s still working on a few things, like chewing items that aren’t toys and building up his bladder control. While he hasn’t yet been tested around other dogs, cats, or kids, his gentle and loving nature suggests he’ll be a wonderful companion. With Bolt by your side, every day is sure to feel like a heartwarming adventure.

We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog.

Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess.

Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
