Bolt's Story
Bolt arrived at Woodstock in September from a rural shelter. We aren’t sure of the specifics, but we do know that Bolt was not getting adequate care before he ended up at the shelter. He was not is great shape and he arrived with an injured back leg. After having x-rays completed and thorough evaluation with a trusted rehab vet, it was determined that the leg was not functioning due to a nerve injury.

Over the past 5 months Bolt has been receiving regular therapies, including rehab, laser, ultrasound, and aquatic therapy, in an attempt to jump-start nerve regeneration and gain back some function. While we have seen consistent progress, it remains slow and subtle. Bolt basically presents like a tripod, except he still has all 4 legs.

At this point, Bolt is a happy, healthy, and thriving boy!! We do not feel like amputation is an appropriate option, as the “non-functional” leg does not cause him any issues or decrease his quality of life. In fact, the limb still serves a purpose to help with balance and movement transitions. And in theory, the nerves could still regenerate one day.

All of this to say… Bolt is officially available for adoption and looking for his forever home!! Bolt is seriously the BEST boy and wins the hearts of everyone he meets. He is house trained and does well with other dogs and older kiddos. Bolt is very social and would LOVE a family that takes him out and about regularly!

Please reach out to the page with any questions. Application for adoption can be submitted at http://www.woodstockanimalfoundation.org/adopt-a-dog/.
