Bobby's Story

Bobby ~ Bulldog~ Estimated DOB: 4/06/2023 (Approaching 3 years old)

Bobby had been failed miserably in his past, I have to do all that I can to see that that never happens to him again!

He was given away for free on social media. A woman from Central Falls commented that she would take him. The family that had him dropped him off on her doorstep with no questions asked.
While living in Central Falls, Bobby spent most of his days alone. He didn't have anything. No toys, towards the end of his time in the home, he was not consistently fed. There was no food in the home. The home was in deplorable condition. For the last couple of months of Bobby living in the home, a new puppy was added. That new puppy was Monster, who is also up for adoption. Monster and Bobby are not bonded. They do not need to be adopted out together.

Bobby came into the shelter looking rough. He had a big gash on top of his head. His eyes would have a thick green discharge, that was a daily occurrence. His skin had small circular lesions that would leave his skin with so many flakes. His fur in certain area was so thinned out, but it was never itchy or discolored.

The 1st step was to get him both looking and feeling better. He had never seen a vet in his time living in Central Falls. Something tells me that odds are low that he was able to see a vet with the family that gave him away.

He was recently diagnosed with allergies. He's looking and feeling a whole lot better, but there are so many people that look at this breed and want them due to their look. They're adorable! What people don't often time realize is they're genetically prone to MANY health issues, allergies just being one! After additional vet visits we now know he will need to live on thyroid medication, as well as an eye drop medication for dry eye. You need to be able to afford these medical expenses. It's not fair to the dog to take them on if you can't. Again - he will require thyroid medication, dry eye medication, and allergy medication.

Bobby has suffered enough! He needs a furever family that is going to stand by him throughout his life....even when times get tough! Someone that takes him to the vet when issues arise. Someone who will spend time with him. Since his time at the shelter, he's grown to be a big fan of having someone he can hang with. Those days of being left alone in an apartment day and night are hopefully behind him.

Bobby has lived with cats, kids over the age of 8+, and he has briefly lived with Monster (the dog). Bobby weighs roughly 70 pounds. It would be great if someone applied that had bulldog experience.

If you think you could provide Bobby with the home he deserves, you can apply online at Pawtucketanimalshelter.com, or you can apply at the shelter in person.
I thank you all for understanding the adoption process!
~ACO Charlene #61
