Bo 6165's Story
Bo was originally adopted from us in 2019 and returned in March of 2025 due to his owners moving. Since his return, he has struggled with repeated transitions in and out of the shelter and foster homes, largely due to impulse control and over-arousal behaviors. The lack of consistency has made it difficult for him to settle and show sustained progress.

Bo's behavior is not rooted in aggression, but in poor impulse control, excitement, and difficulty regulating himself. When he becomes overstimulated, he uses his mouth inappropriately, which requires clear management and structure to prevent escalation and keep people safe.

The challenges:

-Struggles with impulse control and over-arousal.
-Becomes mouthy when excited, including jumping and grabbing at hands or leash.
-Has a documented bite incident related to leash nipping and redirection.
-Can have difficulty settling in stimulating environments.
-Needs consistent structure, boundaries, and follow-through to be successful.
-Adult-only home preferred due to mouthy behavior.-

The good stuff:
-Social and playful; enjoys rough-and-rowdy play with other dogs.
-Generally dog-social and enjoys play groups with appropriate management.
-Highly food motivated and responsive to redirection and training.
-Loves walks, hikes, swimming, and outdoor adventures.
-Affectionate, talkative, and enjoys being close to his people.
-Shows improvement when given clear expectations and consistent handling.
-Heartworm treated and has completed all required restrictions and follow-up care.

Who he needs:

Bo needs an experienced, adult-only home with someone who understands impulse control issues and is committed to providing structure, consistency, and continued training. He will do best with clear boundaries, predictable routines, and outlets for both physical and mental energy. With the right guidance and stability, Bo has the potential to be a fun, affectionate companion who thrives when his needs are clearly met.
