Blueberry-Corvallis, OR's Story

Location: Corvallis, OR

Meet Blueberry -- a dalmatian mix looking for his forever home.

Blueberry was rescued from a shelter in SoCal and is being fostered in Oregon. He's sweet, friendly, and a little quirky. He loves going for long walks and searching for kibble in the snuffle mat afterwards. He is estimated to be about 4 years old and has a lot of energy -- perfect for someone that wants an active dog companion that's past the puppy stage.

Blueberry is either deaf or has very limited hearing and will need more training with his forever family. He has a good foundation with sit, is great with accepting a harness, and has been improving with impulse control. He loves food and treats, so that helps with training!

He would prefer to follow his humans around all day but has been doing a great job of learning to settle with food toys in the crate. Sometimes he sleeps soundly (he doesn't wake up to household noises) and he responds well to being woken up gently. Blueberry is a genuinely happy pup -- he greets you with smiles and wiggles.

Blueberry enjoys exploring the neighborhood and could easily walk for hours. He pulls a little bit at the beginning of a walk when he has the most energy so he'll need continued training on loose leash walking (or a walking partner with a faster pace). He would also be a great hiking or jogging buddy -- he's still rebuilding muscle after being in a shelter for a few months so he would need a gradual introduction to jogging, but he's ready and excited to start training with you!

Blueberry has had a lot of changes the past few months and will need some time to adjust to his new home. He would do well as an only dog. Blueberry is dog friendly but sometimes has strong emotions about other dogs (usually excitement). He may have some challenges understanding when another dog says no, since he's unable to hear them. May consider families that already have a dog if there's potential for a good fit. Blueberry has passed cats on a walk without too much excitement but he may have a bit of a prey drive (re: squirrels, deer) and would need careful introductions to other pets (cats, chickens, etc.).

A fenced yard would be great so that he has a safe space to run but he's also doing well with lots of neighborhood walks.

Can you give this sweet boy the forever home he deserves?

Please copy & paste the link below into your browser for our application:
https://www.jotform.com/form/243374218477059

Questions: Emails us at: info@savethedals.org

**Disclaimer: None of our dogs have been DNA tested, so we cannot guaranty they are 100% full pure breeds.**

Save the Dalmatians and Others Canine Rescue's Adoption Policy
The first step in our adoption process is for the prospective adopter to complete our Adoption Application Questionnaire which helps us best match you with the the dog that would be most suited to your home environment and expectations. Email us at info@savethedals.org with the name of the dog that interests you and we will send you our Adoption Application Questionnaire. If based on the Application Questionnaire we think one of our dogs is a good match to your home environment and expectations, we will follow up with a phone call, advise you of the adoption fee, schedule a home visit if applicable, and arrange a meet and greet with the dog. Adopters are also required to sign our Adoption Contract; you will be provided a copy of the contract for you to review and ask questions before you adopt the dog. Note that we often have multiple applicants wanting to adopt the same dog. Our selection process is not based on whose application we receive first. It is based on who we believe will be the best match for the dog, allowing for the greatest success of a high quality, loving forever home, with the least likelihood of the dog needing to be returned to rescue. We commit to the life of each dog we rescue, such that at any point in the life of the dog if its adopter is no longer able to keep the dog, the adopter signs our adoption contract agreeing that they will return the dog to Save The Dalmatians and Others Canine Rescue. The dog is not to be turned into an animal shelter.
