Blueberry-Corvallis, OR's Story

Location: Corvallis, OR

Blueberry is looking for his forever home -- can you please help him find his future human(s)

Blueberry was rescued from a shelter in SoCal and is being fostered in Oregon. He's sweet, friendly, and a little quirky.. He is estimated to be about 5.5 years old, 52 lbs and has a lot of energy -- perfect for someone that wants an active dog companion that's past the puppy stage.

Blueberry enjoys long walks and playing with food toys. He particularly likes the orange omega treat ball -- he's even figured out how to pick it up in his mouth and back out of the corner with it when it gets stuck. The blue cow tug toy is a new favorite for tugging and playing! Don't forget his snuffle mat!

Blue is great at settling in the crate and now he goes in right away when I get a frozen toy. He's deaf so he can nap in the crate in another room (or while you're at work, etc) and household noises won't bother him.

He has a good foundation with hand signals, sit, down, good boy: is great with accepting a harness, and has been improving with impulse control. He is newly working on a scratch board for his toenails.

He would prefer to follow his humans around all day but has been doing a great job of learning to settle with food toys in the crate. Sometimes he sleeps soundly (he doesn't wake up to household noises) and he responds well to being woken up gently. Blueberry is a genuinely happy pup -- he greets you with smiles and wiggles.
Blueberry enjoys exploring the neighborhood and could easily walk for hours. Has also improved a lot with his loose leash walking and only occasionally pulls when he gets excited.

He may have a bit of a prey drive (re: squirrels, deer) and would need careful introductions to other pets (cats, chickens, etc.).

He would do well as an only dog. Blueberry is dog friendly but sometimes has strong emotions about other dogs (usually excitement). He may have some challenges understanding when another dog says no, since he's unable to hear them. Slow introductions are key.

He's potty trained and hasn't made any messes in the crate.

A fenced yard would be great so that he has a safe space to run but he's also doing well with lots of neighborhood walks.

Can you give this sweet boy the forever home he deserves?

Please copy & paste the link below into your browser for our application:
https://www.jotform.com/form/243374218477059

Questions: Emails us at: info@savethedals.org

**Disclaimer: None of our dogs have been DNA tested, so we cannot guaranty they are 100% full pure breeds.**

Save the Dalmatians and Others Canine Rescue's Adoption Policy
The first step in our adoption process is for the prospective adopter to complete our Adoption Application Questionnaire which helps us best match you with the the dog that would be most suited to your home environment and expectations. Email us at info@savethedals.org with the name of the dog that interests you and we will send you our Adoption Application Questionnaire. If based on the Application Questionnaire we think one of our dogs is a good match to your home environment and expectations, we will follow up with a phone call, advise you of the adoption fee, schedule a home visit if applicable, and arrange a meet and greet with the dog. Adopters are also required to sign our Adoption Contract; you will be provided a copy of the contract for you to review and ask questions before you adopt the dog. Note that we often have multiple applicants wanting to adopt the same dog. Our selection process is not based on whose application we receive first. It is based on who we believe will be the best match for the dog, allowing for the greatest success of a high quality, loving forever home, with the least likelihood of the dog needing to be returned to rescue. We commit to the life of each dog we rescue, such that at any point in the life of the dog if its adopter is no longer able to keep the dog, the adopter signs our adoption contract agreeing that they will return the dog to Save The Dalmatians and Others Canine Rescue. The dog is not to be turned into an animal shelter.
