Blueberry's Story

Meet Blueberry Toaster Strudel — the house hippo your heart didn't know it needed.

For six months, Strudel survived completely on her own on the streets of Detroit, hiding beneath the porch of an abandoned home. If people came near, she ran. Trust wasn't an option — just making it to tomorrow was. She even gave birth to puppies under that porch; a rescue saved her babies, but Strudel stayed behind, fending for herself through the seasons.

Then, on a bitterly cold night in December, we got the call. After days of earning her trust, we finally got her to safety — with no idea what to expect next.

The answer surprised everyone. The moment Strudel realized she was safe, she turned into the biggest love bug imaginable. Today she's a professional couch potato, champion cuddler, and full-time personal space invader who wants nothing more than to be as close to her people as possible. She's fully potty and crate trained, sat on command on her very first day, and clearly knew love once before life got hard.

Strudel's been through a lot physically, too — she's completed heartworm treatment and healed from an old leg injury (likely from being hit by a car) that she carried alone, without treatment. And yet she greets the world with nothing but love. No bitterness, no fear — just love.

Blueberry likes low-key, calm dogs and enjoys kiddos. She would rather not share her space with cats.

After everything she's survived, we think it's finally her turn to receive it.

✨ 3 years old
✨ 55 lbs of pure cuteness
✨ Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped
✨ Crate & potty trained

Apply today: https://peaceloveandpawsrescue.com/adopt%2Ffoster-application
