Blue's Story

Blue is handsome and loyal, eight-year-old, 95-pound, male white German Shepherd looking for a loving guardian.

Blue is good on leashed walks, excellent with most other friendly dogs, and currently lives with a female foster sister, a pit bull terrier, who he loves to play rough and tumble with. He does have a high prey drive and barks at cats!

When in the yard, Blue does like to dig a bit, but he is accustomed to three walks a day. In the car, he settles down just fine and even falls asleep.

Blue is a typical very loyal and loving German Shepherd and can be protective of those he loves – both people and dogs. He can live as the only dog, or with another friendly dog. He does like his female dogs. He has proven well-behaved with older children and hangs out with a 10-year-old regularly.

He is well-behaved in the home; Blue is perfectly housebroken and refuses to get on furniture – even when he’s invited.

He’s not typically loud, but he does bark at strangers who come to the door.

Blue knows the commands sit and paw and takes treats very gently from your fingers.

Sadly, he was living with a family in public housing who had to relinquish him due to their non-pet friendly lease.

His family gave his birthday as 5/24/2017.

Blue takes a while to get around block because he sniffs absolutely everything! But, that also makes him easier to walk despite his size.

Blue is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies, distemper, leptospirosis and bordetella vaccines, heartworm-tested negative, and microchipped. His adoption fee of $250 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Blue, please fill in an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up by contacting friendsofpetraits@gmail.com to make an appointment to meet him.

He is being fostered in Chicago.
