Blitzen's Story

Hi, I’m Blitzen — but you can call me Blitz
Resilient puppy. Total lovebug. Future superstar in training.

I’m an energetic, affectionate puppy who has already overcome more than most dogs my age — and I’m doing AMAZING. I’m currently recovering from parvo (I just finished my last round of medication 🎉), which means my world has been small for now, but my spirit is anything but.

Even with limited exposure, I absolutely love people. I greet men and women with pure joy — no barking, just tail wags, happy hops, and kisses. I’m gentle and cuddly, and I adore spending time with guests. I’m still learning polite greetings (sometimes I jump or forget where my mouth belongs — hello, teething!), but I respond really well to redirection and sitting nicely when asked.

I also have a resident cat best friend, and I think that’s pretty cool. We play together often (I initiate most of the fun), and while I do get a little sad when the cat needs a break, I’m respectful and curious rather than pushy. Once I’m cleared from parvo, I’ll be ready to start meeting dogs too — and my foster family feels very optimistic about my social future.

I’m learning all the important puppy skills right now. I mostly use pee pads and am on a consistent potty schedule (after meals and every 60–90 minutes) as I transition toward outdoor pottying. Accidents happen occasionally, but I’m trying my best and learning quickly.

At night, I sleep calmly in my crate in my foster parents’ bedroom with a cozy blanket and toy. I don’t always choose the crate on my own yet, but once I’m inside, I settle well. During the day, the crate is also my safe place when my people are at work.

When left alone, I do best in my crate. If I’m gated, I’ll bark or howl because I don’t like missing out — but in my crate, I’m calm. Music helps me relax, and I’ve shown great progress already.

Training-wise, I know my name (Blitz!), can sit, and I’m beginning recall work. I’m learning polite food manners (sit and wait for my release), starting mat training, and will soon begin leash practice in the house and yard. My brain is busy and curious, and I love learning.

Like all puppies, I’m teething — which means I’m still figuring out what’s appropriate to chew and how to use my mouth during play. When I get too mouthy, play pauses briefly and I’m redirected to a chew toy, which is helping a lot. I’m smart and improving quickly, I just need consistency and patience.

I’m playful, cuddly, curious, and incredibly loving. After bursts of energy, I can also mellow out and nap happily near my people. I want to be involved in everything — if you’re moving, I’m watching; if you sit down, I’m snuggling.

My ideal forever home would be an active, affectionate family who understands puppies take time and training. A fenced yard would be amazing, and while it’s not required, a playful dog or confident cat sibling would be a huge bonus. Because I can be vocal when left alone, I’d do best in a detached or semi-detached home. Most importantly, I need people who are excited to help me grow — I promise I’ll make it worth it.

If you’re looking for a joyful, resilient puppy with a big heart and a bright future…
I’m Blitz, and I’m ready when you are!

Blitzen was born approximately July 2025 and is expected to be a medium-sized dog.
