Bleu is an approximately 2 year old heeler who weighs about 45 lbs. Found in an abandoned property and then dumped by the property owner in a neighborhood known to feed strays, Bleu had a rocky start to life.

Bleu is as loyal as they come and a velcro dog through and through. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, he wants to be there. He’s up for hiking and running but equally content to binge Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix if that’s what you’re feeling for the day. He does fine when left alone and is equally happy either in a crate or left out. He is not destructive - he doesn’t even rip up dog toys! He is mostly housetrained. Because he was left without water, he overdrinks when water is present and needs to go out frequently (every 4 hours or so). He will let you know he needs to go out but will also go in the house if you don't take him out on cue. We are working on it. His favorite things are ball and frisbee. He will fetch and return the ball easily but we are still working on “drop it” with the frisbee. At night he will sleep in his bed next to yours - he just asks that you cover him with his blankie first. He puts on a tough act but deep down he’s a sweet boy.

Bleu needs slow introductions with people and dogs. He becomes protective quickly of his people and home. Because of this, he cannot go to a home with small children (13+). Bleu would do best in a quiet home in a quiet area. He has not been cat or small animal tested but demonstrates a high prey drive with squirrels. He will need adopters who are patient, breed savvy and willing to put the time and energy into training to help him learn to be his best self. He may never be the type of dog who plays well with others and will need adopters who understand his limitations and are willing to work with and for him.

Currently Bleu lives with two female dogs in his foster home and has previously lived with male dogs successfully. To best set him up for success in his new home, we think he would do best with an alpha female of similar size or smaller or as an only dog. Ideally his adopters will be able to meet him in person ahead of time.

Bleu is located in Framingham, MA. For questions, please contact meghangrabau@gmail.com.
