Blaze's Story

Blaze showed mixed to concerning behaviors during his assessment and will require significant training, structure, and socialization to be successful. He becomes easily overstimulated and frustrated, often responding with jumping, mouthing, mounting, and grabbing at clothing.

He should be handled with care to prevent overarousal and redirected appropriately. Blaze will do best with an experienced adopter or rescue that is prepared to work closely with him, and he is not recommended for a home with small children or frail adults.

Despite these challenges, Blaze appeared friendly with other dogs.

All applications for foster or adoption will be screened for suitability and must include personal and veterinarian references. Once approved, a representative from the shelter will contact the applicant and set up a meeting with the animal. All other animals in the household and family members must participate in a “meet and greet” with the desired animal in order to confirm suitability. Adoptions are finalized with a contract releasing the animal to the adopter(s).
