Blaze's Story
Meet Blaze (aka, Chewy Dude), the handsome Shepherd mix with a gorgeous coat and an even sweeter heart. Blaze was a stray on the streets of Texas at just four months old. When we first met him at the shelter, he put his paw through his kennel and gave us the cheesiest puppy smile. It was then we took him outside to play, and...the rest was history.

Blaze is now around six months old and has brought us so much joy, laughter, love, and comfort since we took him in as a foster pup. He's quickly become a favorite. Not a day has gone by without this boy showing us his big heart for people and his love for companionship (something we don't believe he got to experience much of before the shelter). He does good with kids and other dogs, but can be a bit mouthy with both as he's still an excited and teething puppy. Because of this and his anticipated size as an adult, Blaze would do best with other larger dogs his size in the home. Sorry chihuahuas.

In order to truly thrive, Blaze will also need a home with plenty of yard and house space as he has lots of daily energy to burn! He's an outdoors boy and loves to spend time running, playing, and finding the latest stick. He'd enjoy his time even more if you join him outside in the fun! When not outside, Blaze enjoys staring out the window, or staring at you as you go about your daily life! Blaze absolutely loves going on walks and riding in the car (now that he's conquered his fear of both!)

He does tend to treasure toys more than food (although he's recently discovered the delightful taste of meat). Blaze's favorite toys are the small ones he can easily carry around in his mouth as he explores, and he loves getting new ones to add to his collection. He's not one to shred up his own toys, although he does love to chew on random objects he finds...as his nickname implies. He is mostly potty and kennel trained, so now he's just working on solidifying what he's learned.

This sweet boy requests access to your bed in the night (and for his daily nap), as he sleeps best in comfy environments where he can stay close to your side. He's a cuddler at heart and would love to make you his newest and greatest cuddle buddy.

Blaze is happily content to observe you as you go about your daily life and join in when you'll let him. He has a heart full of love and loyalty and deeply desires to share his heart with a friend who will stay by his side through everything. Will you allow this sweet boy to be your 4-legged companion?

Foster to contact: Hannah at loguefamily25@gmail.com

Adoption Fee: $550 (no checks)

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption; discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, & 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.

Last Hope, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11 am - 2 pm at Apple Valley Petco (7590 150th St W, Apple Valley, MN 55124)
Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children.
The Adoption Fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals!
CAN YOU FOSTER? By taking a dog or puppies temporarily into your home and then coming to our adoption days to help find them homes, we can save more! If you’re interested, please email our office @ mail@last-hope.org and give us your contact information and what you would like to foster and someone will get back to you! You can also apply to be a foster home on our webpage! In the upper left hand corner there’s a drop down tab with the link for canine foster home. Just fill it out online & submit! We will get back to you as quick as we can.
