Blade's Story

MEET BLADE!
Blade is a graduate of our dog training program at Northeastern New Mexico Correctional Facility. His handler writes:
"My name is Blade. I am a large, black male dog. I am about a year old. I am very friendly and like meeting people as well as other dogs. Some of my favorite things to do are to play, chase, and chew on rubber balls. I especially like balls that squeak and are brightly colored. I also like to play fetch with the ball, and I also like to play with and chew on ropes, both fetching them, but also playing tug o' war.
"I like to run with both my trainer, as well as with the other dogs I live with.
I love having my belly scratched, and I also like being scratched behind my ears. I don't especially like taking baths, but I like being and smelling clean, so l don't make a fuss over them. I just tolerate them.
"I like to lay around, both in my kennel and on the floor, and chew on my bone, but I don't chew on things that aren't mine. I don't take or steal food or anything that isn't mine. I don't beg for food, and I don't get on the furniture. I only use the bathroom where l'm supposed to. I get along and play well with other dogs. I also get along and sit when I meet new humans.
"I do my best to walk loosely on my leash, and I know and understand all the basic commands, both in hand signals and verbally, for sit, down, stay, come, up, and stand for exam. I don't mind having my teeth, ears, or paws looked at and examined. I also know my name. I can also shake hands with either paw.
"I would love to go to a home that has a big yard so that I could run and chase a ball or rope, with lots of children who would play with me. I also wouldn't mind another dog living with us to be my companion. I would also be happy running or jogging with my owner. I would be a great companion with just one person but would be ecstatic to have a large family."All adoption fees include spay/neuter, all shots up to adoption date, and lifetime microchip registration.
All medium or large dogs will be adopted to homes with at least a 5 ft secure fence. All adopted dogs are eligible for free beginner basic training to help transition to their furever homes go as smoothly as possible.
