Blackie's Story
Meet Blackie – a true survivor with a heart of gold! 🖤
Blackie’s journey is nothing short of amazing. He was rescued from California at just 2 months old, when his entire litter was battling parvo. With intensive medical care and lots of love, Blackie was one of only two survivors. From there, he made his way to Colorado to the rescue’s founder and has been cherished ever since. He has since relocated to sunny Florida with the founder of the rescue—and he’s loving it!
Blackie is approximately 1 year old, about 60 lbs, neutered, and fully vaccinated.
This handsome boy is a total love bug. He adores people and wants to be as close as possible—often dropping his full weight on you for cuddles and giving the best hugs. Inside the home, he’s generally laid back and affectionate. He is crate trained, treat motivated. Outside, his energy increases and his playful and energetic side shines! He loves long walks and can even run alongside a bike for up to an hour.
Blackie plays well with his foster dog siblings but hasn’t had much experience playing with unfamiliar dogs yet. He can be a bit cautious around other dogs and is continuing to work on not reacting to barking dogs on walks. He would benefit from continued leash training, as he’s still learning not to pull. I believe he would do well as an only dog because he is a bit spoiled and likes to be the only one, haha.
What Blackie loves most? People. He is friendly with everyone he meets including children of all ages and thrives on human companionship, but can be independent too. He is more reactive to other dogs.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with an incredible survival story, Blackie may be your perfect match. If you’d like to meet this handsome boy, please reach out—we’d love to introduce you!
