Blackie's Story

BLACKIE | 2.5 years old | 40 lb | Toronto

Hi, I'm Blackie! I'm a special girl with a stunning glossy black coat and a quiet, curious personality. I'm a mixed breed dog that looks very much like a petite Labrador. People tell me I'm very pretty.

I'm looking for a quiet home with a friendly dog to help show me the ropes. I lived in a shelter for most of my life, and was very comfortable there. Now I'm starting to explore the world, and am making great progress in becoming comfortable with the new sounds and experiences. I'm looking for someone to patiently guide me and I'll keep on showing them what a brave, gentle, and wonderful girl I am.

I think what would help me the most is a dog sibling! I get so much confidence when another dog takes the lead and shows me how much fun life can be. With my foster dog sister and brother, I've enjoyed playing outside and hanging out together. I'm not high energy and am very respectful of other dogs big and small, so my foster brother is just fine with me as he recovers from his surgery. I play for short periods and then love to find my comfy spot on the couch to settle in for a snooze. As I get more comfortable I am becoming more playful and my foster is loving seeing my very sweet personality emerge.

I'm not a huge fan of the cold, but I enjoy going for walks and am told that I'm really good on leash. I am an easy dog overall as I'm not demanding at all, and am very quiet. At nights I join my foster siblings on my foster's bed and I sleep soundly until morning. My foster gives me treats and I love them!

I've heard that sometimes shy girls like me get passed over, but I promise that if you can show me kindness and patience as I settle in, I'll be the most wonderful companion. I am sweet, loyal, and calm. You'll fall in love with me the minute you meet me.

If you think you could give me the home I need to be my very best self, please apply at

https://form.jotform.com/pawsacrossthewater/adoption-application
