BLACK JACK's Story
Black Jack (A141158) is a 4-year-old ‘possibly’ Chow Chow Mix who weighed 73.9 pounds on intake! 02/20/26 Black Jack is back at the shelter after being adopted for less than a day. His most recent home was also home to a young puppy that Black Jack did not get along with. It is very important to do slow and controlled introductions when introducing a new dog into your home. Fear Free Pets has some great resources on proper introductions! Many dogs also do not have the patience for puppies if they have not been around them much, just like some adult humans do not have the patience for human kids! We also encourage people to remember the Rule of 3s when adopting a shelter pet: 3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to adjust to your routine, and 3 months to consider you home. If you think you are the perfect fit to give Black Jack the patience and opportunity he deserves, please give us a call! 02/11/26 This big handsome boy is Black Jack! Black Jack was surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of his own with his canine buddy Yeager. These boys were described as friendly pups who have historically done well with people of all ages, including babies and children. They were also stated to get along with other dogs but have no known history with cats, pocket pets, or livestock. Please ensure you are making slow, safe, and controlled introductions with potential friends. These boys were said to be kennel-trained, ride well in a vehicle, and stand by the door when they need to go potty. They know the basic command of sit, but might still enjoy taking a few basic obedience classes with their new owners to sharpen up their skills. They are sweet boys looking for their new families to love! We are not requiring that they be adopted together, but if you are looking for an already established pair, please let us know!
