Bitsy's Story
Meet Little Bit, now known as “Bitsy.”

Bitsy is a sweet lady looking for her new home. She is 9 years old and weighs about 6 pounds.

At first, Bitsy is very shy and timid when it comes to new people and new situations, and prefers to observe from afar. She can startle easily and is nervous about having people reach over her back when she is on the ground. But! Don't let her shy demeanor fool you- once she is comfortable, Bitsy is an incredibly good natured and affectionate pup. Bitsy loves pets and scratchies, cuddling and being talked to. She is very gentle natured. She will climb on you for kisses and lay on or next to your lap if you let her. She has had some bouts of playfulness and the “zoomies” but isn't too sure about toys. She sure loves treats though! And those big ears on her head are not just for decoration - Bitsy has excellent hearing. She loves being talked to.

Bitsy has been around respectful children and done well, but isn't a fan of too much noise. Bitsy has not been observed with other animals but supposedly has lived peacefully with cats. According to her record, she was bitten by a large dog when she was young, which is likely why she is skittish of people leaning over top of her.

Bitsy is leash and crate trained. Bitsy is also pee pad trained. She is about 75% house trained- she is not a fan of the cold and is shy about going potty in new environments, but it seems like she could likely improve with some encouragement.

Bitsy has a seizure disorder and will require daily medication for her entire life. She does well with taking her meds and has seizures very rarely. She currently takes her medicine 3 times per day (every 8 hours); there is an option for doses 2 times per day (every 12 hours). She also has seasonal allergies and may need allergy shots from time to time.

Bitsy has been fully vetted and is up to date on her vaccinations. She is heartworm negative and takes monthly heartworm prevention. Bitsy has been microchipped and is spayed.

Bitsy’s adoption donation is $300.

If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.

To submit an application go here: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled.

Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.

Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
