Biscuit's Story

If you are looking for a dog who is the perfect blend of trailblazer and couch potato, look no further than sweet Biscuit! At 10 years young, this gorgeous 40 lb. girl completely defies her age. The only giveaway is her frosty muzzle. Everyone at the rescue who has met her is smitten, and we know you will be too!

Biscuit is agile, athletic, and loves to explore, but she is equally content to sink into a cozy dog bed for a long nap or lick a pupsicle in a sunny spot in the yard.

Biscuit is delightfully quiet at home, though she still has youthful bursts of energy. When new friends arrive, she greets them with the enthusiasm of a younger dog. She truly believes everyone she meets is her new best friend. She does calm down nicely, though, in less than a minute.

She is already a total pro at home life. She is house-trained and fully crate-trained, though these days she sleeps on her dog bed. She knows sit, down, shake (or high five), and touch. Plus, she has impeccable dinner manners. And if you'd like to teach her some new things, she's totally up for that. She rides beautifully in the car—perfectly quiet and ready for the next destination.

Biscuit knows how to get your attention. Indoors, she may pad over and look at you with her big bright eyes. Or she may gently rest her chin on your thigh.

Biscuit loves going for walks. She is generally good on leash. But she is a scent enthusiast whose nose loves to lead the way once she catches a whiff of something interesting. When she sees a deer (or a family of them), her inner hunter kicks in, and she'll give a spirited pull and try to chase them. With a little continued training, this is easily manageable.

While Biscuit hasn't lived full-time with another dog, she is actually quite the social butterfly. She has a terrific time at doggy day care playing with other dogs and has done wonderfully when visiting with another rescue volunteer's pups. She could happily be your one-and-only spoiled princess, but she also could share her home with another canine pal.

Biscuit's dream home looks like this: A securely fenced-in yard for sunbathing and sniffing around. A walkable neighborhood. An endless supply of belly rubs. A home with adults or kids ages 6 and up who would be thrilled to have a bright-eyed, loving dog in their life.

If you are interested in adopting Biscuit, please complete our nonbinding application (copy/paste the link into your browser): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSecCc1ahjYQ9wLAzg7-n5VdaFQmxrAej-w3--E4IybCkvKOfw/viewform
or
Visit our website: https://hedgesvillehounds.wixsite.com/home

Hedgesville Hounds's Adoption Policy
What is the adoption process? Read the dog's profile carefully. Determine if you and the dog are a good match. Review the NON-BINDING online application to make sure you have all the requested information and phone numbers. Complete the online application. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM THE FOLLOWING AREAS: The state of Maryland, Washington, DC and the surrounding DC metropolitan area, Baltimore and the surrounding metropolitan area, the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia (Jefferson, Morgan and Berkeley Counties) and Northern Virginia. You will receive a confirmation that your application has been received within 24 hours. If you do not receive the confirmation, please contact hedgesvillehound@aol.com before resubmitting your application. Please note: Our Petfinder listings make it clear that some dogs are not ours, but are instead courtesy postings for other rescues. If we receive an email or application about another rescue's dog, we forward such emails on to the appropriate rescue, but cannot be responsible for their response time. If your application is not a good match for the dog, we will send you an email declining your application, along with reasons, within 48 hours of receipt of the application. All decisions are final. If your application is a possible match, we will contact your vet for a reference. Please make sure that you provide several years' worth of vet information, not merely your most recent vet. This is very important; if you do not provide your vets' phone numbers in a timely manner, we cannot process your application. IF YOU ARE A FIRST-TIME PET-OWNER, YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A VET REFERENCE but we will ask you, separate from the application, for 3 personal references. We will contact you with the results of your references. If the references are unsatisfactory, you will be alerted to this. If they are satisfactory, we will contact you to discuss the dog and to arrange a home visit. Once the home visit is completed, we will arrange for you to meet the dog. http://hedgesvillehounds.wixsite.com/adoption
