Birdie's Story
Meet Birdie — and if you believe the best dogs are the ones who’ve lived a little, she might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.

Birdie is an older hound, about 45 pounds, with the kind of quiet presence that fills a room without asking for attention. She’s beautiful, gentle, and a little awkward in a way that’s endearing, not challenging. She’s fine with other dogs, but she’d truly prefer to be your one and only, where she doesn’t have to compete or navigate pack dynamics.

Her story matters. Birdie came from a shelter where she was at risk of euthanasia due to severe dental issues. We stepped in, got her the dental care she needed, removed the painful teeth, and now she’s comfortable, happy, and clearly relieved. You can see it in how she relaxes, how she enjoys her walks, how she settles into her space.

Birdie loves sniffing around the yard, taking long, easy walks, and then coming back inside to rest. She’s not high-energy, but she’s not a couch ornament either. She’s that perfect middle ground—content, steady, and easy to live with.

Birdie is considered special needs due to heartworms. Because of her age, we are not pursuing fast-kill treatment. Instead, she’s on a slow-kill protocol, has already completed her doxycycline, and will come with a full year of heartworm prevention. She’s doing well, and we’re looking for a home that understands and is comfortable continuing this simple routine.

If you want a dog who doesn’t need chaos, who doesn’t need constant entertainment, and who will quietly become part of your life rather than demand it—Birdie is your girl. She’s steady, kind, and grateful in the way only older dogs can be.
