Meet Billie - A Fresh Start for a Girl Who Deserves Her Happily Ever After <br/><br/>Sometimes, the hardest rescue stories are the ones where we thought the happy ending had already happened. <br/><br/>Billie first came to us as a puppy back in 2022. We found her a home, watched her leave with what we believed was her forever family, and truly thought she was out there living her very best life.<br/><br/>Until recently, we got a call from Beaufort Animal Control that stopped us in our tracks.<br/><br/>Apple Strudel was found wandering the streets by a Good Samaritan and was now in their care. We immediately went back through every document, every record, and every piece of information we had. While she completed her stray hold, we reached out to her last known adopter and tried to piece together how this sweet girl had somehow ended up alone.<br/><br/>After plenty of trials and tribulations, one of our incredible volunteers made the trip to bring her home to us. <br/><br/>And now?<br/><br/>She is thriving. <br/><br/>Billie is a four-year-old spayed Labrador Retriever mix who is wonderful with other dogs and people. She is settling beautifully into her foster home and showing everyone just how incredible she is.<br/><br/>She's currently working on her leash manners because this girl is STRONG and definitely thinks she's the one taking you for a walk. But aside from needing a little practice on the leash, she's pretty much the whole package.<br/><br/>She's house-trained, crate-trained, and up to date on her vaccines - and most importantly, she's ready to find the family who will make this next chapter of her life her best one yet. <br/><br/>And after everything she's been through, her foster family decided that this sweet girl deserved something else, too...<br/><br/>A fresh start. <br/><br/>So from here on out, Apple Strudel has a new name: Billie. <br/><br/>A new name. A new chapter. And hopefully, a new beginning that finally leads her to the forever home she's been waiting for.<br/><br/>We don't know why Billie was abandoned. We may never know what happened between the day she left us as a puppy in 2022 and the day she was found alone on the streets.<br/><br/>But we do know this:<br/><br/>Billie deserves better.<br/><br/>She deserves a family who will love her through every chapter of her life. A family who will never give up on her. A family who will make sure that the next home she goes to is truly her forever home. <br/><br/>And seriously... LOOK AT THIS GIRL. <br/><br/>Billie is one of the most photogenic girls around. Those eyes, that smile, those adorable Lab features - she absolutely knows how to work the camera.<br/><br/>We gave her a chance once as a puppy.
