Bill's Story

Meet Bill!

This 7-year-old boy is full of life! He is a nice, healthy size at 64 pounds. Bill is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. Although when he gets excited, he does pull a bit.

Bill has a good amount of energy especially when he is excited! He has a lot of love to give and enjoys playtime with his people. Bill likes to play fetch but, he can also entertain himself with toys.

Bill is a very friendly, happy boy who just needs a little time to settle into a new environment. Bill was given up to a shelter by his only family, so he has been through a lot of changes and given the circumstances, he is adjusting very well!

Bill knows “sit” but has a hard time containing his enthusiasm for long. He does tend to jump when meeting new people. He is just a friendly, happy boy who needs some positive guidance on how to stay a little calmer in fun situations.

Bill will thrive in almost any home where he gets plenty of love and playtime. He needs a moderately active home. An hour or more of playtime each day, playing fetch and keep away, making new friends, and exploring will suit Bill just fine. That being said, at his age he doesn’t need to run a marathon each day. Bill settles down to chew on a toy or take a nap in his kennel after a good play time.

Bill loves everyone he meets and has been very friendly and playful towards children ranging from toddlers to teens. However, with his excitable jumping and wiggles, he might do best with kids who are a bit older.

Bill loves playing in the yard with his toys but will stop what he is doing if he sees a new friend passing by. He greets everyone with wags and wiggles but without barks!

Bill seems well intentioned with other dogs but hasn’t quite meshed with the dogs in his foster home; one is a bit old and grumpy and doesn’t want to play with him and the other is young and a bit hyper which is too much for Bill. He does respond well when other dogs tell him give them space. Bill has not been around cats.

Bill really loves people and craves their attention. His life was turned upside down by his former family and he is now adjusting to his new situation and new life. With a little time to figure out what is expected from him, he will be a treasured member of a real family!

Bill will be available for adoption on, or after, March 27, 2026

If you are interested in Bill and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Bill’s list. If you are a not yet approved, you can find our adoption guidelines and application at: www.savealabrescue.org

Bill is fostered in RI
