Meet Big Poppa! <br/><br/>Our sweet Big Poppa may be a senior, but he still has plenty of pep in his step! He is somewhere around 10 years old and weighs about 70 pounds. <br/><br/>Big Poppa is energetic for his age and would love to join you for short strolls around the neighborhood. While he is not a swimmer, he enjoys dipping his front paws into shallow water so he would probably enjoy walks by the ocean. <br/><br/><br/>Big Poppa’s curiosity is one of his most charming traits. He will make you laugh as he squeezes into tight spots just to investigate. He enjoys gentle affection, especially head pats and chin scratches, and if you’re lucky, he might even reward you with a little kiss.<br/><br/><br/>Despite his playful curiosity, Big Poppa also has a calm side and is perfectly content to lie nearby and enjoy a quiet movie night with you. He’s still learning about toys and balls, and while he hasn’t quite figured them out yet, he’s starting to show interest when he watches other dogs play. Big Poppa has been great with all the dogs he has met and is even gentle and patient with puppies. He isn’t quite ready to live with cats however!<br/><br/><br/>Big Poppa will make a wonderful, easy-going companion with just the right mix of silliness, sweetness, and relaxation<br/> <br/><br/>He may bark while crated with people nearby, but he settles down within a few minutes. He sleeps in his kennel at night and does well on his own during the day.<br/><br/><br/>Big Poppa loves to eat! If he thinks you have food, he may try to grab at your hand. If you show him your open hand, let him sniff, and tell him there’s nothing there, he understands and typically doesn’t try again. He also shows some curiosity about countertops, but only if something is left near the edge where it’s easy to reach. He does not jump up onto counters.<br/><br/><br/>Big Poppa has suffered from chronic ear issues in the past. He has been treated for this; however, he does have some permanent damage due to having been untreated for so long. <br/><br/> <br/>Big Poppa would love a relaxed home with an older couple, or even a younger couple that wants a well-rounded dog. Older children are okay; he is not comfortable with younger children in his space. Throughout most of his life, Big Poppa has lacked the care he deserves; now he is ready to join a loving family and enjoy his golden years!<br/> <br/><br/>Big Poppa will be available for adoption on, or after, November 14th<br/><br/><br/>If you are interested in Big Poppa and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Big Poppa’s list.
