Big Jon (BJ)'s Story

Big Jon (BJ?) and a little dog — Benji — have been in a foster home together waiting until a kennel was free. Although good friends, Benji may have started a fight with Big Jon over food while staying there along with a resident dog. Big Jon, who weighs 100 lbs. (time for a diet?) is a pretty chill guy and although the pair could live together if appropriately supervised, they could also be adopted separately. Obviously they get along at various levels with other dogs. They say the thick-coated hound mix — maybe some Chesapeake, maybe chocolate lab (a guess) is around 3 years old and "just a big lug."

The two dogs had been abandoned in Rand when their owners moved away in August. They had been alone for months and people were trying to feed and water them since then. Bitten by flies over the summer, with matted fur, and both dogs appearing to be limping, they were fortunate to have found a temporary placement in a foster home.

You can visit the dogs from noon - 3 pm Saturdays and Sundays, otherwise by appointment. We always recommend submitting an application (and a copy of recent vet records for your current pets if applicable) to info@aradopt.org.

Link to application: https://www.angelridgeanimalrescue.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Dog-Application.pdf
