Big Emma's Story

This precious girl is Big Emma. Big Emma came to CAFA following a very large rescue operation from a horrifying hoarding situation. Despite what Emma has been through, she seems to have no ill effects. She is super sweet and playful. She gets along well with all other respectful dogs of various sizes. As a terrier cross, she does tend to love to play, and she sometimes doesn't know her own 55 lb body size. She loves other dogs, but until she gets some basic training, we would recommend sticking with other doggie playmates around her size or larger. We believe Big Emma to be 2-3 years old. She has been through heart worm treatment(4/25 and 4/26/16), and is now fully vetted and ready for adoption. Emma loves attention and loves to please, but sometimes she can get a bit mouthy. This behavior will resolve with training. It is never aggressive, just used to demand more love. She would likely be perfect with younger kids after some training, but until then, we recommend no toddlers or very young kids that are not used to larger dogs. She has moderate to low energy, and would likely be very happy with a short walk daily.

Our adoption fees are: Puppies - Adults $ 525, Seniors $325. These adoption rates include transport to designated New England pick up locations using either Rescue Road Trips or Pets LLC. If you do a search you will see that this is a very reasonable adoption fee and comparable to other rescues.

All our dogs are altered (spayed or neutered), DHLPP, rabies, Heartworm tested and neg, microchipped and get a fecal and treated for parasites if any found. A meet and greet is not possible before adoption unless we have a foster home open up. Most times our dogs get adopted before a foster home becomes available - and if so they go straight to adoption. Foster mom's talk to adopters and feel confident that this will be a match before our dogs are transported up. Also if by some chance it is not a match we have a safety net in place as we ask that adopters let us know that it is not a match and we direct you to take the dog to a foster home or boarding kennel once that is arranged. If necessary, we might ask you to foster the dog until a foster home can be arranged. One of our transport companies, Rescue Road Trips, was featured on The Today Show - view it at http://www.today.com/video/today/55034556#55034556

If you are a Massachusetts or New Hampshire residence additional fees apply due to State quarantine requirements.

We hope to help make a difference in a rescue dogs life into loving responsible homes.
