Big Boy (I have a Secret Crush!)'s Story

Our shelter hunk Big Boy is having the time of his life in foster home, and his foster has been truly impressed with him.

His foster says Big Boy is fully potty trained and does a great job of going to the door when he needs to go out.
He's also fully crate trained. He sleeps in the crate and is comfortable being crated during the day if needed.

Big Boy's "likes" include:

- Breakfast and dinner time
- Happy Howie's treats and Chicken!
- Cuddling on the couch (he loves watching Traitors!)
- Learning new skills - he's very food motivated and a quick learner
- Belly rubs and chest scratches
- Chasing squirrels
- Plush toys with crinkly insides or squeakers

His dislikes include waking up too early on the weekends to go for walks; he prefers to sleep in and snuggle, being out in the rain or snow (we get it) and having anyone try to take away his food. He's also isn't a fan of long walks in the heat.

According to his foster, Big Boy is a fantastic and calm walker when there are no distractions.

"We are currently working on loose leash walking and reactivity to other animals, and he has made huge improvements," his foster writes. "He loves meeting new people and is incredibly friendly. He is trained in "polite petting" where he will bring a toy to new friends to get pets from them. He hasn't met any children yet, though, and may be a bit hyper for young kids.'

Big Boy, his foster says, is a bit afraid of other dogs and can bark or pull on the leash when he's surprised by another dog. Through training, he is making a lot of progress to be less reactive.
His foster says they haven't introduced him to any other dogs yet and would probably need a single dog adult home without cats, whom Big Boy might want to chase a little (read part about squirrels above).

Big Boy is just a big love. We'd love the chance to introduce you to him and tell you more about him. Fill out an adoption application, and we'll get you set up to come out and spend some time with him.
