Big Bones's Story

Big Bones is a former street dog from Jamaica who lost his only safety net during the last hurricane. He was being cared for by a local shelter that was unfortunately destroyed by the storm, completely disrupting his life.
Big Bones has never lived in a home and will have to learn everything for the first time: daily routines, noises, indoor spaces, and trusting relationships with humans. He is a nervous and sensitive dog, who can be reserved at first. However, with gentleness, patience, and consistency, he is progressing at his own pace.
Once he feels confident, Big Bones reveals a deeply endearing personality: he loves to be petted, rolls over on his back to ask for belly rubs, and seeks closeness with his humans. He enjoys being near you and sharing quiet moments.
Big Bones does not like the cold. He is not yet comfortable walking on a leash and is just starting to wear a collar; these lessons will have to be learned very gradually, without pressure.
Big Bones is not yet comfortable walking on a leash, so a fenced yard is necessary to ensure his safety, especially during the phase when he is gradually learning to wear a collar and discover the outdoors without risk.
Big Bones needs a calm, very patient, and understanding home, with adopters who are willing to accompany him step by step and celebrate every little victory. In the right environment, he has the potential to become a loving, close, and deeply grateful companion.
