Betty - Courtesy Post's Story

Meet Betty

Betty is a 51-pound professional cuddle bug with a happy heart and a very important mission: to love everyone she meets! This beautiful German Shepherd/Husky mix is just under 1 year old, spayed, and ready to find her forever person.

Betty is incredibly friendly and approaches people with one goal in mind- PETS, PLEASE! Once you start loving on her, she'll happily roll onto her back for belly rubs. She's affectionate, playful, and has the sweetest, happiest disposition.

This girl is also a total goofball. She loves soft squeaky toys, toys she can toss around, and will even throw her own stuffed toy into the air before chasing after it. She hasn't quite mastered the art of catching yet, but she's having a LOT of fun practicing! She also loves getting her feet wet and would be thrilled to have someone who enjoys adventures with her.

Betty enjoys walks and even going for runs, although she's still working on her leash manners. She doesn't pull, but she does like to zigzag in front of her person. With some patience and training, she'll get there!

She is excellent with potty training and has had no accidents in her foster home. She's also comfortable entering her crate on her own, especially for meals and treats. Her biggest challenge right now is separation anxiety. Betty becomes very distressed when left alone and may bark, cry, or become destructive. Because of this, she currently needs a home where someone can be patient with her and help her gradually build confidence being alone. She has not yet had one-on-one introductions to other dogs or cats, so those relationships will need to be thoughtfully introduced.

Betty has already experienced a big change in her young life- she and her brother were surrendered to the Banning Police Department, and her brother has since found his forever home. Now it's Betty's turn.

Betty would make an amazing adventure buddy, walking partner, hiking companion, or simply your favorite couch snuggle buddy. She doesn't need a perfect home- she needs someone willing to love her, help her work through her separation anxiety, and show her that she's finally home.

If you're looking for a loving, silly, affectionate girl who will happily give you her whole heart (and probably her belly for scratches), Betty might be your girl.

The Animal Pad's Adoption Policy
We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane. Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational. All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times. All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise. Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000. Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc. Adoption Application: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
