BERT's Story

Bert is a playful, personable boy who truly shines once he’s out of his kennel and enjoying some fresh air. While the shelter environment can make him feel a little anxious at first, a quick walk and some time to stretch his legs help him settle in and show off his wonderful personality.

One of Bert’s favorite things is getting his zoomies out in a grassy run — especially when there’s snow to frolic in! He loves to run, play, and soak up one-on-one attention from his favorite people. Long walks with lots of sniffing time help him relax and reset, and he does great transitioning back inside after some outdoor fun.

Bert can be a bit frustrated at the kennel door and may get excited when other dogs are nearby, so he does best with calm, individual outings where he can focus on his human and enjoy his surroundings without distractions. Outside, he’s an absolute joy: friendly, fun-loving, and eager to connect.

If you’re looking for a playful companion who would thrive with personal attention, outdoor time, and a patient home to help him decompress from shelter stress, Bert is ready to be your new adventure buddy.

Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.
