Gilmore Gardens Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
We do things a little differently at Gilmore Dog Rescue! Instead of a traditional application, we use a simple intake form and a foster waiver (release of liability) to get started. Here’s how to become the proud new parent of one of our beloved Gilmore Guests: 1. Schedule a Meet & Greet *must live in Charlotte, NC**** Reach out via email or text to set up a meet and greet with Antonio, Shelley, or the foster parent of the dog you’re interested in. We require an in-home visit to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for the dog. Before your visit, please email your veterinary reference(s) to shelley@gilmoredogrescue.com ******** Once Shelley approves your references and the dog is comfortable in your home, you’ll move into the Foster-to-Adopt stage. 2. Foster-to-Adopt Trial This trial period gives everyone—humans and pups—a chance to make sure it’s the right fit. It’s especially important if there are other pets, children, or elderly family members in the home. ****We do not allow same-day adoptions. Every dog must go through this foster process to help ensure it’s a forever home. 3. Final Adoption The length of the foster trial varies and will be discussed with a Gilmore Dog Rescue representative based on the dog’s needs and your situation. Once you’re fully committed to adoption, a representative will return for a final wellness check. The adoption fee is $250, and Shelley will send over the final adoption paperwork for legal transfer. And just like that, you’re officially a Gilmore Dog parent!
