We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted. *We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. *You must be approved to adopt her before we will schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs. *AGE: 4 months old (born November 2025) *WEIGHT: Bernie is currently 13 lbs. We expect her adult weight may be 25-30 lbs. but we have no way of knowing for sure. *FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence is preferred. No electronic/invisible fences, or e-collars will be allowed. *COAT TYPE: We have no way of predicting what type of coat she will have. Her puppy coat appear to be a fleece, low to moderate shedding coat. You should be prepared to have her groomed regularly (every 8-10 weeks) with an estimated cost of $120/groom. *ENERGY LEVEL: Bernie has spurts of that puppy energy! She is able to settle and would love to be able to expel that amazing puppy energy. *DOGS: Bernie has done great with other dogs at her previous home as well as in her foster home. *CATS: unknown. She has had no exposure to cats in her foster home. *KIDS: We are told Bernie did great with kids but currently doesn't live with any in her foster home. Please keep in mind that she will nip while she is teething which could last for several months so you need to be prepared for razor sharp teeth nipping at you, your clothing and chewing on items she shouldn’t. She's still a puppy! *CAR: She's is great in the car and happy to go on all the adventures. *CRATE: Great in crate!! She goes in willingly (or with the help of a treat!) is quiet and powers down quickly for a nap... she has been keeping her crate clean and not having accidents in there! She takes great comfort and feels safe in her crate. She sleeps in her crate at night! *HOUSE TRAINED: We are getting there!! There have been a few accidents but she goes potty far more often outside than inside. Her new family should be prepared to keep working on house training her. *LEASH: Bernie would needs more help learning more about the leash and good manners but is well on her way! Meet Beautiful Bernie-Kansas, a 4 month old apricot Mini Goldendoodle puppy who is an IDOG foster home near Wamego, Kansas. Bernie was surrendered to IDOG by her owners who loved her very much but they are moving overseas to be closer to family. Bernie is a happy and headstrong gal who is very sweet, loving, energetic, and playful! She lives with two 55 lbs. foster dog siblings and everyone is getting along very well! She loves to jump and play with them. She is crate trained and also likes to hang in a playpen which we are using to help establish structure, safety, and good boundaries. She potties outside for the most part; she will need continued work on house training. In the evening, she plays and hangs out, then potty and into crate. Bernie sleeps in crate overnight from 8pm-6am. She keeps crate clean during that time, and has never had an accident in there! She loves a good bath! Due to the intense needs of puppies, we will require adopters to be experienced dog owners with someone home during the day, so she is provided with human interaction while continuing to work on house, crate and obedience training. We are looking for adopters who understand the training, exercise & socialization needs of puppies as well as the safety precautions that must be followed until she is fully vaccinated. Because she is so young, it is not possible to determine what temperament she will have as an adult. Also, we are unsure of the final coat type she will have so only adopters that can tolerate a shedding coat will be considered. As she matures, her natural disposition and coat type will emerge. She will require training and to be spayed by 12 months of age – these expenses will be covered by the adoptive family. IDOG will hold a $200 spay deposit. The adopter will be required under contract to spay her by 12 months of age. You will need to send the vet receipt to IDOG and we will then refund the deposit. If you fail to get her spayed by 12 months of age per the adoption contract terms, you will be required to return her back to IDOG Rescue. ADOPTION FEE: $1000 adoption fee + $200 refundable spay deposit to be refunded upon proof of spaying by 12 months of age ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION: Puppies & highly adoptable dogs such as Bernie have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues. IDOG Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy

BEFORE YOU APPLY Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis. Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application. To adopt one of our dogs you MUST first complete our online application. We do require an interview. In addition, a home visit will be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. If you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our dogs. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience. WHO WE ARE IDOG Rescue is a national U.S. foster-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization and has remained in good standing with the IRS since 2006 when IDOG was created. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to Doodles, Standard Poodles and Poodle mixes since 2006. We have helped over 3,700 Doodles and Poodles to date. IDOG Rescue was the first specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America. IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in shelters across the country and has an outstanding reputation for helping Doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status. LOCATION OF DOGS IDOG has dogs in foster homes all over the U.S. Please see the location listed in the dog's name (for example, Toby-TX is located in a foster home in TX). In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person. IDOG does not ship or transport dogs unless this option is stated in the listing. Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge. We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home near where it is being fostered. ADOPTION FEES All of our IDOGs have an adoption fee that is non-negotiable and non-refundable. OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. We will require the adoption fee be paid prior to or when we transfer the IDOG to its new family. The adoption fee helps IDOG with the expenses related to the care of all of the dogs in our program and is not directly tied to the expenses incurred for that particular dog. Adoption fees allow IDOG to continue doing our life-saving work as we are 100% dependent upon adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of the dogs in our care. Each dog is assessed individually to determine the adoption fee. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming, and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs, or are heartworm positive. Adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, fecal test/dewormer, heartworm testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and microchipping. All IDOGS are evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption.
