Bernice's Story

Sweet Bernie is still waiting for her chance at forever!🥹
Bernie was rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case where over 30 dogs lived together in an overcrowded, unsafe mobile home. Despite her rough start, this gentle girl is learning that the world can be a kind and cozy place. ❤️‍🩹✨
Bernie LOVES toys -- she'll gather them up one by one and bring them back to her bed like a little ferret. She's a pro at burrowing into blankets and curling up in her favorite cave bed.🧸
Meal times are her favorite -- she even does a happy little dance when she knows food is coming! 🍽💃
Though Bernie is blind, she gets around wonderfully and loves snuggling and playing with other small dogs. 🐾
She's still a bit timid and scares easily, but she's never shown fear aggression. With patience and love, she's made big strides -- she'll now let her foster mom pet her and finds comfort in quiet companionship. 💞
She's also great about using pee pads when she can easily locate them, and she thrives best indoors where she feels safe. The outdoors and crates still frighten her, but with another small dog by her side and a pile of toys to collect, she's perfectly content!🥰
🏡 Bernie's perfect home:
✨One or more small, friendly dog companions
✨A very secure fence if there's a yard
✨Lots of patience, love, and cozy blankets
✨Plenty of toys to add to her collection! To have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport (dogs only), please visit our website.

https://longwayhome.org/apply

❤
Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds. As long as they need rescue, that's what is most important to us.
