BERNARD's Story

WATCH MY VIDEO...Oh sweet Bernard! This gentle boy is 8 years old and has been in the shelter system far longer than he ever should be. He is often overlooked because of his breed and coloring, but anyone who takes a moment to meet him quickly sees how unfair that is. Bernard is calm, kind, and has the softest little smile that will make you melt. Bernard loves treats, knows his name, and will happily do just about anything for food. He enjoys playing ball, but as a bigger, older guy, he also knows when it’s time to take a break and rest his legs. He is patient, affectionate, and perfectly content just being near the people he loves. He gets along with other dogs and loves people. All he really wants is a cozy place to relax and enjoy his golden years. Bernard has been seen by our veterinary team and is doing well for his age. The crusty bits around his eyes are from mild skin irritation, not an eye problem. He will need a few teeth removed, but there’s no need to worry. Our clinic will take care of the dental surgery next month at no cost to his adopter. Bernard’s friends at @antinolplus have covered his adoption fee and are sending him home with supplements to he can continue to play fetch into his golden years. Bernard doesn’t need perfection. He just needs a family willing to open their heart to an older dog who still has so much love to give. If you’re looking for a calm, loyal companion to share quiet moments and unconditional love, Bernard might be the one you’ve been waiting for. If you have a soft spot for the seniors and underdogs, Bernard is waiting to meet you. If you can’t adopt, please share his story. To meet Bernard, or any other pet visit humanebroward.com and complete the pre-adoption application. The adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m. and appointments are not required. The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 and if you have any questions call 954-989-3977.
