Berna's Story

Born June 2025, Berna and her siblings were puppies on the street far too young. Thankfully a kind stranger took them in for a few weeks while they waited for space to open up at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta. While we’re so happy she’s off the street, she belongs in a home with a family who loves her. Berna is the sleek lean black pup in the litter. We think she’ll grow to about 25- 30 lbs full grown. She is a mixed breed which may include terrier and pointer, but really she’s her own unique special girl. Berna is curious about cats, and wags her tail when she visits them. She might like a quiet home who can help her slowly step out safely into a world that will be new for her

If you think you might be a good fit for this gorgeous girl, either as her happy ever after, or as a foster along the way, we’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. Flights available to BC and Alberta (no cost to you). Please check your junk mail for our response.

PVCA Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our sister organization, the SPCA Puerto Vallarta, has a sanctuary, staff, trainer and medical team who work with the dogs and cats until they are deemed "adoptable". Once they pass their health exams, which include blood tests which certify they are able to cross borders, they are transported to Canada and/or the United States and enter foster or permanent homes. All our animals come sterilized, and fully vaccinated and dewormed. Our organization relies on the caring volunteers who open their homes and foster the animals until they are adopted. We do not have a sanctuary or shelter in Canada or the United States. Visits must be arranged and we prefer an adoption application to be filled out and approved before visitation.
